2001 Nissan 200SX-S14a

Y796 IS FOR SALE! - A full service history, a storyboard of the restoration and a full MOT certificate will accompany this quickly appreciating modern classic. It has never seen a wet road since the resto, and is available for offers over £9500. Give me a call on 0203 691 3392 for more details.

Registered in the UK on 26th June 2001, Y796 KUD is one of the last of the S14a's. With only 175 left on the road, this mint condition 80,000 mile example is quickly becoming rarer than a hens tooth.

And it's an absolute gem!

Unlike most of it's counterparts, it's never been drifted and is completely free from the rot which can so easily take hold of these cars. It's kept in dry storage, doesn't see the the rain and gets the occasional run out on dry days to clear the pipes.

If you would like to chat my contact details are at the bottom. I love a car show, so if you are hosting one, or are part of a car publication and want to feature it.

My contact deals are at the bottom of the page.

clean and straight

One of the first things you notice about Y796 is how clean the bodywork is. When I first bought the car it had the obligatory 'lacquer peel' across the roof and boot lid, so local paint shop hero Tracie from TW Smart Repairs in Willand gave it the once over with some fresh paint to blow the cobwebs away.

It's straight too. No knocks, dents or crashes over the past 17 years.

The bits you don't see

Y796 is in superb condition. Underneath the car is a solid, rot free floor with many original parts. Whilst some modification has been done to the car it's not excessive.

Much of the restoration work has been done by Austen and Oli Grice at Grants of Wellington who have been involved in the 200SX circuit for a number of years. "This is definitely one of the cleanest SX's we've seen, and it's been great to work on", says Austen. "The power it has right now still makes it a thrilling car to drive without going overboard".

A common meeting ground for rot is the suspension mounting, but not here.

motorway cruiser or track animal

The Nissan 200SX has always been the preferred choice for the drifting scene, and while it isn't a dedicated drifting car it is a fantastic track day toy. With a limited slip differential and just over 1000kg kerb weight they're built to handle, and with it's modifications Y796 transforms from a super comfortable motorway cruiser into a sticky wild animal on the track.

Rear spoiler removed

It's called a spoiler for a reason. It's been removed, the holes have been plug welded, and the boot has been finished to perfection.

manual conversion

A 5 speed manual box with a short shift conversion is an essential modification if you want to hit the track.

upgraded brake discs and pads

Power is fun but braking is more important, especially around a track. With larger vented discs and Ferodo DS2500 pads this car can stop on a sixpence.

hsd coilovers

The HSD coilovers have had the geometry professionally adjusted to fast road / track use keeping the comfort for road use and maintaining incredible cornering grip on the track.

ripspeed exhaust

The Ripspeed straight through stainless steel exhaust has been de-catted and the bung brings the noise levels back to acceptable. Static tests at the track come under 90dB.

Engine Mods

Enhancements include uprated turbo pipes and air filter, front mounted intercooler, bigger fuel pump and a stage 1a ECU re-map from Horsham Developments. There's also an electronic boost controller for maximum control over the 290bhp available.

leather bucket seats

Comfort and body hugging stability in the corners. The original seats are still in storage should I ever change my mind.
